tree // music was a site specific installation for the 2020 Pulse Technology Festival and exhibition at the Jepson Centre for the Arts.

The work is projected onto four columns that frame the square of live oak trees in the square outside, and has a soundtrack generated from biodata captured from live oak trees.

Sensors attached to trees measure fluctuations in bioimpedance which are converted into midi signals. This midi data is used to play instruments, and the soundtrack in turn will influence the projection when certain frequencies are found in the audio.

The first half of the work is based on mark making, and this resolves into images of live oak foliage that form flowing, interwoven particle systems.
